Bubbling Feeling in Stomach - Could It Mean Being Pregnant?
While a woman remains sexually active, she is always concerned about pregnancy, even if she follows various methods to avoid pregnancy. Even when a simple symptom occurs that resembles pregnancy symptoms, a woman may become worried and start thinking that she might be pregnant.
One pregnancy symptom is a strange feeling in the stomach. When a woman gets a bubbling feeling in stomach, she sometimes comes to the conclusion that she could be pregnant.
It is true that a bubbling feeling in stomach is an important sign of pregnancy but this is not true in all cases. If you have not indulged in intercourse or had intercourse without protection, you should not become worried until you also notice other pregnancy symptoms.
Stress and worry affect your periods badly and may cause a delay in your period. So do not worry unduly if you experience bubbling feeling in stomach.
The best thing to do is to take a pregnancy test to clear your doubts. If you don't want to go to the doctor for a pregnancy test due to embarrassment or for any other reason, you can do it at home. It is cheap and simple.
If, after your pregnancy test at home, you get a negative result and still get the same bubbling feeling in stomach, then you should make a list of all other signs that you experience and take them to your doctor.
Gas is one of the most common causes. If you know that you were not trying to get pregnant, a mere bubbling feeling in the stomach is nothing to worry about.
When gas is produced in the stomach, people get rid of it by burping or passing it through the rectum. The composition of gas is oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and methane. Due to the bacteria present in the large intestine, flatulence has an unpleasant odor, because in this process the bacteria work on the undigested food and eventually sulfur is released.
Causes of Gas
- Aerophagia: While eating or drinking any liquid, people also swallow air. Some people eat very fast and thus they swallow a lot of air Eventually gas is produced in their stomachs. People who smoke or chew gum or who wear loose dentures also tend to swallow more air.
- Foods that Produce Gas: There are some foods that cause gas such as sugary foods, milk, beans, starches, fiber, etc. Therefore you should avoid or minimize consumption of such foods to prevent gas formation.
Ways to Get Rid of Gas
Your body naturally gets rid of swallowed air through belching or burping. In this process, the gas from your stomach is released. However, a small amount of gas may remain inside which moves along the small intestine and travels towards the large intestine and finally gets released via the rectum.
A Breakdown of Undigested Foods
Some foods, which remain undigested and which are not absorbed by your body, pass from the small intestine to the large intestine. There, bacteria start breaking down the food which causes production of gas such as CO2, hydrogen, methane, etc. Such gases may cause stomach fluttering but eventually get released through the rectum.
To prevent gas formation in your stomach and to prevent a bubbling feeling, sleep well, drink plenty of water, and avoid foods which cause gas formation.

I gave a birth of a child and during the pregnancy I was suffering from flu. I began to feel fluttery and people started calling me crazy. Actually, it was not suffering from influenza it was the symptom of pregnancy. The age of my son is 6 and becomes 7 soon. I am passing through the similar state to have weird cramps in lower abdomen, and I consider myself pregnant. The people start calling me crazy once again. However, they are to be accustomed to their bodies.

I had the sort of strange fluttering in stomach. I faced this one again. However, I presume it is gas. I feel that I am not having any pregnancy, but some segments make me feel so. I become crazy. I have an appointment with the doctor on Friday next. I have observed my video that is taken recently. I possess a flat stomach and it appears as a pregnant abdomen. I was astounded to see it. I will try to figure it out on next Friday.

If you are pregnant, this is at the premature state. Therefore, it is not the time to feel any movement in lower abdomen; instead you will start feeling after four months or more. I did not feel any movement until I reached in the fifth month. I feel it is the symptom of gas.

I feel movement in my stomach, am I pregnant? Still waiting for my period…..

It can be possible for pregnancy even though you have the negative pregnancy tests. You may feel bubbles in uterus during early pregnancy. But this will not take too long. Still you need to take a blood test then you can be sure of it.

You probably have a bubbling feeling in lower abdomen or it is related to gas. I have been for two months and four days in this type of state. I have also faced this kind of sensation. I guess it is gas. Take your blood test and come back to the forum. Have good luck.

Thanks for the post. This brings me a little calm. I have been suffering from fluttery feeling in stomach for a while. I am in doubt about the state of my pregnancy. I went for some pregnancy tests and all were negative. I convince myself that the state is not linked with pregnancy. However, the signs indicate the possibility of pregnancy. I am getting weightier and weightier. My stomach appears to be a larger one. My all symbols mirror the state of pregnancy. I will take the blood test next week. Most probably, I have been pregnant for a couple of weeks. My lower stomach feels weird. What is this fluttering feeling in my stomach?!
